As you may know, the city is replacing a watermain along Imperial and closing the road to all vehicle traffic in front of the school. I have met extensively with the city & district this week to develop a safety plan – see the attached newsletter & map (green marks = park & walk & red marks = road closure).
This major construction project will start sometime the week of May 5th & continue well into summer.
The city is keeping the pedestrian sidewalks open along Imperial, so families can continue walking to & from school. There will be two flag persons monitoring two new cross walks on either end of the construction site – one near Waltham St. & one near Randolph St. Parents driving to school will have to park on the side streets north of Imperial & walk their kids to school – see green marks on attached map.
I recommend you supervise your children’s walk to school over the next couple weeks and teach them a safe walking route. The heavy construction may not start till the following week.
